We are seeking a skilled, dedicated Dental Assistant to join our flourishing dental team. The ideal dental assistant will provide support to the prosthodontist in delivering high-quality services to patients improving overall oral health and changing lives in the process. The Dental Assistant will be expected to perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties to ensure an efficient and smooth operation of the dental practice.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Greets and welcomes patient, escorts patient to designated treatment room.
- Communicate with patient throughout treatment to ensure comfort and safety.
- Take and record patient medical and dental histories.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene throughout provided treatment step by step
- Explain pre- and post-operative instructions given by the Doctor with patient and or designated driver.
Chairside Assistance:
- Assist in 4-handed dentistry. Hand instruments and materials to the dentist throughout procedure while protecting the patient airway.
- Take and record dental X-rays and CBCT’s as directed by the Provider.
- Assist in General, and Speciality procedures including but not limited to FMR, and AO4 procedures.
- Properly chart necessary Treatment needed as determined by Doctor
- Prepare treatment rooms for all patient procedures. Set up necessary equipment.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the treatment rooms.
- Sterilize tools, materials, and instruments as indicated by state regulations.
- Ensure the proper disposal of hazardous materials according to established protocols.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule necessary appointments in sequential treatment order
- Record and track laboratory case pans
- Maintain accurate patient records and update/chart information as necessarv.
Laboratory Support:
- Prepare, maintain, and organize dental instruments, equipment, and materials for use.
- Fabricate temporary crowns and bridges as directed by the Doctor.
- Collaborate with lab if corresponding treatment is needed same day.
- Ensure all Same day case pans are removed from lab at E.O.D. and given to appropriate provider for completion of Lab Rx.
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills
- Multitasking capabilities, and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and emotional intelligence.
- Proficient in the use of dental software and X-ray equipment.
- Comfortable with use of I.O. Scanners.
- Must possess ability to stand for extended periods of time, Keeping steady hand/arm throughout treatment.
- Orchestrates adeptness to ensure patient safety during duration of procedure.
Experience:
- Two years previous experience as a dental assistant preferred
- Any dental implant knowledge, preferred but not necessary
- One year prosthetic experience preferred
- Comfortable with dental procedures and terminology.
- Works well with others, is reliable, outgoing and can keep tempo in a fast-paced work environment.
Education/Certification:
- Certified Dental Assistant, A.D.A. certification is a plus, but not a must.
- Current CPR certification.
- HIPPA/OSHA certification.
